Müller Ice Cap Daily Report June 6, 7 and 8
Daily Report for June 6th, 7th and 8th 2025
The last three days we have been busy here in Eureka packing up all remaining cargo in containers, and shipping out both ice core boxes and cargo, by two Summit Air ATR-72 cargo planes. Furthermore, after the last ice core shipment was done, we have broken down the ice core freezer and packed it as well. The heavy rain we experienced a week ago, unfortunately, meant that “broken down” was close to the literal meaning, as water had penetrated most of the otherwise nice interlocking system between the freezer panels, turning the usual nice disassembly procedure into an iced-up nightmare. Anyhow, the elements are now in a container, as is all other cargo that has not been flown out by the two cargo planes, and we are thus ready to go to Resolute tomorrow, weather permitting.
What
we have done Friday, Saturday and Sunday:
-
Packed cargo into the 3 containers.
-
Shipped out all remaining ice core boxes by Summit Air ATR-72 Saturday.
-
Shipped out all remaining rush cargo, by Summit Air ATR-72 Sunday.
-
Broken down and packed ice core freezer.
-
Ongoing cargo documentation.
We
are 4 in Eureka (Iben, Richard, Julien and Bo).

Bo, Iben and Julien are happy that the pallets are all set and ready to go!
Caption: Julien is just a fantastic
photographer and he has supplied many pictures to the diaries this season. He
can turn even a mud-pool and a plane into photo-art! Here, all ice boxes are
aboard the plane, Iben and Richard a giving them a last look through the cargo
hatch of the plane.

core boxes in Yellowknife, here they have been shifted into a freezer-truck
that will bring them from Yellowknife to the ice core facility in Edmonton.

us outstanding support throughout the field campaign – a big thank you!
