Müller Ice Cap Daily Report June 9, 10, and 11
Daily Report for June 9th, 10th and 11th 2025
Monday all four of us in Eureka, left by Twin Otter for Resolute, also flying the last remaining PCSP cargo. Renee, the station manager in Eureka kindly drove us to the airfield and even helped us load up the plane – one more big thank you to all at Eureka for both hosting and helping us! At the same time the ice cores made their way by truck from Yellowknife to Edmonton, where they reached their final destination the Canadian Ice Core Lab. Such a relief that all the ice and firn cores drilled on the Müller ice cap, are now safely in the Edmonton freezer! In Yellowknife Andrew has been organizing and packing the airlifted cargo into a shipping container for further transportation, while the four of us now in Resolute finally had some time to relax a bit, after having handed in the PCSP cargo. We also got the opportunity to thank PCSP staff here for all the logistical support, and even show some pictures of the operation, both on the ice cap and in Eureka. It was just great to take a moment together with Tom (who has been part of the planning since 2019) and his PCSP colleagues here, to enjoy that this logistically complex ice core drilling operation has been such a success in reaching its goals!
What
we have done Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:
-
