Müller Ice Cap Daily Report Saturday April 5

Daily Report for the 05 April 2025

We woke up in a cloud. There was no visibility and it looked bad for flying. A cold morning with night temperatures down to -33 deg C. The propane was in liquid form, the Webastro would not start and it seems related to the cold morning temperatures, maybe the fuel becomes too thick for the liking of the Webasto. And the generators also would not start at so cold temperatures. So step one is to get the propane stove going so the temperature rise to -20 deg C. Then the Webasto turns on and we can heat the generator so we can charge the battery the Webasto needs and open for Starlink…. Takes a good hour to get all running.

During the afternoon, the weather cleared and Jim Haffey loaded the Basler at Eureka and we had our first mission on the groomed ski way. It went well and we got a load in including the Arctic Oven kitchen tent and plywood and beams for the kitchen tent floor.

Grant and Dave put a floor and one of the two kitchen tents up while Dorthe groomed the tracks from the Basler away from the ski way. It was 11 pm before we were done and ready for bed,

What we have done:

- Received the Basler on our groomed ski way

-Received 7000 lbs cargo (43 plywood sheets, timber, kitchen tents, foam boxes with food. Thanks to Kevin and Etienne for helping us out.

- Built the first kitchen tent

- Regroomed the ski way.

 Dorthe Dahl-Jensen

Weather at Müller: Overcast to blue sky. Low wind 3-6 km from SSW turning towards W. Temperatures between -27 and -33.
