 Daily Report for the 19-20 April 2025

Weekend – and even Easter weekend! While the drill production is slowly increasing, we stopped working Saturday at 4 pm. After 2-3 weeks in the ice cap a shower sounded really nice. We used 4 hours and 80 liters of water showering in the Viessman freezer and turned into a hothouse. We moved the Webasto heater out in the cabin and with a pot of warm water and a camping shower head we all took a shower.

After that we had an Easter Egg hunt in the drill tent and a very eager group raced around finding colorful eggs and Kinder Eggs with toys.

After that, we had pizza for dinner and played games. A really good evening. Now the Viessmann is turned back into a freezer and the first five full ice core boxes are stored at cold temperatures.

 

What we have done:

-Saturday: Drilled 7 ice cores from 26.39 m to 33.14 m below the present surface.

-Sunday: Drilled 14 ice cores from 33.14 m to 54.72 m below the present surface.

-Still worked on the root cause of the persistent generator problem to put equal loads on the 3 phases.

We still have problems with phasing the Viessman compressor into the generator load system.

-Logged, weighed, O18 sampled and ECM measured bags 27 to 54.

-Took down the Big Agnes tent and set up two pop-up tents for equipment to store

-All took a shower in the heated Viessman cabin before it became in use as the freezer for the ice cores

-Easter hunt in the drill cabin

-Walks and skiing along the skiway

-Enjoying an amazing Sunday brunch with everything. Thanks Shari

  Daily Report for June 2 nd and 3 rd June 2025 Monday was once more a day of hugs and goodbyes as Rebecca,  Tessa, Etienne and Nicholas went on the Basler to Resolute with  a good chunk of the PCSP gear that needs to go back to the PCSP facility there. Tuesday, we managed to send even more PCSP gear, as well as all camp garbage bags to Resolute, by topping up 3 Twin Otters anyway going to Resolute with our cargo, thus making the most of the fact that we now have Müller camp members both to load and unload flights of opportunity in both Eureka and Resolute. Here in Eureka, we are also working on organizing cargo both for upcoming air charters as well as container cargo for the sealift later in the year, while the Resolute group is handling and drying out PCSP gear at the PCSP facility.   What we have done Monday and Tuesday: - Said goodbye to Rebecca, Tessa, Etienne and Nicholas going from Eureka to Resolute. - Topped up 3 Twin Otters for Resolute...

Müller Ice Cap Daily Report June 9, 10, and 11

  Daily Report for June 9 th , 10 th and 11 th 2025 Monday all four of us in Eureka, left by Twin Otter for Resolute,  also flying the last remaining PCSP cargo. Renee, the station  manager in Eureka kindly drove us to the airfield and even helped  us load up the plane – one more big thank you to all at Eureka for  both hosting and helping us! At the same time the ice cores made their  way by truck from Yellowknife to Edmonton, where they reached their final  destination the Canadian Ice Core Lab. Such a relief that all the ice and firn cores drilled on the  Müller ice cap, are now safely in the Edmonton freezer! In Yellowknife Andrew has been organizing and packing the airlifted cargo into a shipping container for further transportation, while the four of us now in Resolute finally had some time to relax a bit, after having handed in the PCSP cargo. Müller Ice Cap Daily Report Thursday June 12

Daily Report for June 12 th 2025 All camp members out of the high Arctic – signing off. Thursday  the last four Müller camp members made it from Resolute to  Ottawa via Iqaluit, and we thus now longer have any Müller  project personnel in the high Arctic. Hence, this will be the last  daily report from our successful 2025 Müller ice core drilling  operation, were we managed to reach all our goals and have both firn  and ice cores safely back in Edmonton. A great THANK you to all at Eureka for hosting us with fantastic support  throughout the season and for being a perfect hub for our operations.
