Müller Ice Cap Daily Report Sunday May 14th
Arriving to Müllers ice cap
After waiting a few days Marc de Keyser predicted good weather on the ice cap and PCSP dedicated both Twin Otters to out project. THANKS. We departed Resolute at 9:00 am and 9:30 am and arrived on the ice cap at 12:00 pm and 12:15 pm. The weather was sunny with clouds on the horizon. Just an hour after the Twin Otters had left, the clouds came in and the wind picked up to 22 kn from SW. We got the big Arctic oven up and the five EUREKA sleeping tents. We got the toilet tent and the generator tent up but failed to be able to turn on the generator. After dinner we were all tired and went to unpack in our small sleeping tents. A very good day. Great thanks to all who supported us: PCSP, Twin Otter crews and Marc 😊
What we have done:
1. Loaded and unloaded the two Twin Otters
2. Set up camp on the Müller ice cap
3. Got stove up and running and got the indoor temperature up to zero.
Weather. Good sunny weather at noon, wind picking up to 22 kn during the afternoon, temperature -15 deg to -15 deg.
